Richard L. Daugherty
Retired Vice President, IBM
Mr. Richard L. Daugherty retired from IBM in 1994 after 37 years, 22 years as the senior executive in the State of North Carolina. At IBM he served as Vice President of Worldwide Manufacturing of the PC Company. Subsequently, he served as Executive Director of the NC State University Research Corporation, focusing on the development of Centennial Campus, and also as Director of the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology, & Science. In addition to Progress Energy, he has served on numerous boards, including those of Wachovia, Winston Hotels, Exploris and Rex Health Care. He received the North Carolina Public Service Award in 1991 and the Chamber of Commerce’s A.E. Finley Award in 1994. He is a former chairman of the NC Citizens for Business and Industry. Mr. Daugherty is a 1957 engineering graduate of Lehigh University.
