NC Sea Grant Podcast Explores History of State’s 1997 Fisheries Reform Act

North Carolina Sea Grant in partnership with the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at N.C. State University supported a comprehensive oral history project on the 1997 N.C. Fisheries Reform Act that is now a podcast.

The first episode of Lo & Behold: The Fisheries Reform Act, a podcast by Bit & Grain, is now available at bitandgrain.com. The podcast is based on 13 oral history interviews conducted with fishermen, scientists, environmental advocates and resource managers who were involved in creating and implementing the 1997 N.C. Fisheries Reform Act.

The oral history project is funded by a Community Collaborative Research Grant and will be featured on WHQR 91.3, the public radio station in Wilmington — live from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017. It will also stream live on WHQR.org and through the station’s app.
