Joann Blumenfeld, a 2015-16 Kenan Fellow, has been highlighted among Time’s Innovative Teachers 2022.
Blumenfeld was featured for her work with Catalyst, a high school program she founded in 2014 at the NC State Science House, which helps to better prepare students with disabilities for STEM careers.
She is one of 10 educators nationwide who were featured as Innovative Teachers 2022. In her interview with Time, Blumenfeld discussed the importance of creating opportunities for all students.
“If we want an inclusive school and workforce, we need to develop that. That’s one of the goals of public education. We need to do better hands-on STEM for every single student.”
